DOIMUKH, 28 Jun: The National Immunisation Day (NID) was launched at the CHC here in Papum Pare district on Sunday with Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering administering two drops of polio vaccine to children.

Addressing the gathering, the deputy commissioner appealed to all parents to bring their children to the nearest polio booth and ensure administration of two drops of polio vaccine for a healthier future. He also urged the public to cooperate with frontline health workers during the intensive house-to-house mopping-up activity on 29 and 30 June to trace and vaccinate any missed children. He reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment towards achieving 100% polio coverage and ensuring that no child is left behind.

The programme was attended by Doimukh SDO Nyelam Tan, DMO Dr Rina R Ronya, DRCHO Dr Tomar Kamki, and DVBDCPO Dr Tana Aruna Likha, among others.

During the programme, Dr Tomar Kamki highlighted the objectives of the NID and the preparedness for successful implementation of the programme in the district. He informed that the campaign aims to cover 4,353 eligible children through 213 polio booths and 16 transit points, with a total of 852 staff and ASHAs engaged for booth activities across the district.

Dr Rina R Ronya appealed to all health workers to ensure that every child below five years is reached and vaccinated.

Nyelam Tan appreciated the dedication and services of the frontline health workers towards the society, and assured of full administrative support from the Doimukh administrative division for successful implementation of all health programmes in the subdivision. (DIPRO)
