PAMPOLI, 20 Jun: More than 160 farmers participated in a natural farming trainingprogramme conducted at the East Kameng Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here on Saturday.

The programme was attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, Seppa East MLA Ealling Tallang, and East Kameng DC Yashaswini B, among others.

The training focused on promoting natural farming -a sustainable agricultural approach that emphasises the use of locally available natural resources and biological inputs while reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The practice helps improve soil health, reduce cultivation costs, enhance environmental sustainability, and produce healthier farm products.

Addressing the gathering, the guests highlighted the importance of natural farming in ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability and improving farmers’ livelihoods.

They emphasised that East Kameng’s rich natural resources and favourable agro-climatic conditions provide immense potential for adoption of natural farming practices. The farmers were encouraged to embrace eco-friendly and climate-resilient farming methods to enhance productivity while preserving the environment for future generations.

Natung and other guests commended the KVK for organising the training programme, and for its continued contributions towards capacity building and agricultural development in the district. They appreciated the institution’s role in equipping farmers with practical knowledge and skills that support sustainable agriculture and rural prosperity.

The programme concluded with a collective call for greater awareness, wider adoption of natural farming practices, and strengthened collaboration among farmers, extension agencies, and government departments to achieve sustainable agricultural growth in East Kameng district. (DIPRO)
