PASIGHAT, 21 Jun: A district-level jan kalyan shivir (JKS) was held at the East Siang DC’s conference hall here on Saturday with special focus on promoting natural farming.
During the camp, experts sensitised farmers to the benefits of natural farming, integrated farming systems, soil health management, value addition, livelihood opportunities, and various government welfare schemes available for the public’s benefit.
The event also provided a platform for interaction among farmers, government officials, and representatives of departments to discuss sustainable agricultural practices and improve access to government services.
Stalls and helpdesks were set up by various departments to disseminate information, register beneficiaries, address grievances, and facilitate delivery of services under their respective schemes.
Special emphasis was given to flagship welfare programmes, including Ayushman Bharat, Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, PM Surya Ghar, PM SVANidhi, Lakhpati Didi, and Viksit Bharat-Guaranteed Employment and Livelihood Mission (Gramin), along with other state and centrally sponsored schemes.
Departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Soil Conservation, and Rural Development, along with members of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Agriculture Technology Management Agency, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission, and the Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts team of Bakin Pertin General Hospital, besides other allied departments showcased activities and initiatives related to natural farming and allied activities.
The participating departments displayed IEC materials, posters, banners, pamphlets, and demonstration materials to educate visitors about various government schemes, modern farming techniques, and livelihood opportunities.
The programme was attended by DC (i/c) Pebika Lego, MLA Ninong Ering, ZPC Ruth Tabing, ZPMs,farmers, and members of the public. (DIPRO)
