ITANAGAR, 15 Jun: A total of 250 NCC cadets are participating in a ‘combined annual training camp (CATC)-cum-inter-battalion selection for cultural team for the pre-Republic Day’ from 13-22 June at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College here.

The camp is being guided by 11 military staff, two ANOs, and two CTOs, under the leadership of the 1 AP Bn NCC commanding officer.

The camp aims to achieve several key objectives simultaneously. It primarily seeks to familiarise the NCC cadets with the challenges and discipline of camp life while inculcating the fundamental values of unity, discipline, national integration and esprit de corps.

The training curriculum is structured to provide cadets with a well-rounded introduction to basic military training. Activities including physical training, field craft and battle craft, small arms firing, musketry, lectures by distinguished personalities, and yoga have been incorporated into the training module.

The camp will also function as the inter-battalion pre-selection camp for the cultural troupe, facilitating the identification and selection of NCC cadets for the pre-Republic Day camp 2027. This event is meant to hone the creative skills of the NCC cadets and provide them with an opportunity to showcase the finest artistic aspects and traditions of the Northeastern region at a national stage.

Furthermore, the camp will also feature Yuva Aapda Mitra (YAM) scheme training for NCC cadets, under which NCC cadets will be equipped with essential disaster responsiveness and emergency management skills. This initiative, launched by the National Disaster Management Authority, seeks to equip the NCC volunteers with essential skills required to respond effectively to situations of crisis. Cadets will receive structured training on basic relief, rescue, and response mechanisms to address disasters such as floods, cloudbursts, and earthquakes.

The YAM training sessions are being conducted by qualified instructors from the State Disaster Management Authority, providing cadets with practical tactical skills.

The events have been planned to demonstrate the NCC’s steadfast commitment to promoting discipline, fitness, healthy competition and leadership in youths.
