ITANAGAR, 27 May: National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar is visiting Arunachal Pradesh from 27 to 29 May to participate in a series of programmes and review meetings on women’s welfare, safety, grievance redressal, and community engagement.
A key highlight of her visit will be the Mahila Jan Sunwai scheduled to be held on 29 May at 12:30 pm at the deputy commissioner’s camp office in IG Park here, according to an NCW release.
The ‘Jan Sunwai’ is being organised to provide women with a direct platform to present their grievances and seek immediate support and redressal.
Women from Itanagar and nearby districts are encouraged to attend the ‘Jan Sunwai’ and bring forward their complaints before the Commission.
“Walk-in complaints will also be accepted during the session to ensure wider accessibility for women seeking assistance,” the release said.
During the visit, Rahatkar will also chair a review meeting with senior government and police officials of Lower Subansiri district on 28 May at the conference hall of the district secretariat.
The meeting will focus on women’s safety, welfare schemes, grievance redressal mechanisms, and strengthening coordination among departments and stakeholders.
Additionally, the NCW chairperson will participate in the Yashoda AI and She serve’s awareness programmes at Kalung Panchayat Hall on 28 May.
