Editor,
I would like to bring attention to the frequent power cuts being faced by the residents of Naharlagun.
For the past few months, the power supply has been going off repeatedly. It has become a regular issue, with power cuts occurring almost every week and sometimes even every day. This is causing a lot of inconvenience to the residents and affecting our normal daily lives.
The problem is particularly frustrating for students and aspirants preparing for upcoming competitive examinations. Many students study in libraries and depend on electricity for their preparation. Because of the frequent power cuts, their study schedules are being disrupted and valuable study time is being wasted. Even the inverter backups in libraries are getting exhausted due to repeated power interruptions. This is causing a lot of frustration and mental stress, especially when examinations are approaching and every hour of preparation matters.
We understand that power interruptions can happen because of technical faults, maintenance work, or other genuine reasons. But when the same thing keeps happening every day/week and for several months, it becomes very difficult for ordinary citizens to understand why the problem has not been properly addressed.
It is also summer, and frequent power cuts during this season make things even more difficult for the common people. People need electricity not only for their studies and work but also for basic comfort during the hot weather, and it cannot be a coincidence that the same problem keeps happening every week and every month, particularly in Naharlagun. Residents have been facing this for a considerable period, and there is growing frustration over the situation.
I request the authorities concerned to kindly look into the matter and take necessary steps to provide stable and reliable power supply to the area.
A concerned student,
Naharlagun
