KHONSA, 29 Jun: Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong said that quality education, supported by adequate residential infrastructure, is essential for empowering tribal students and preparing them to become responsible citizens and future leaders.
Inaugurating a newly constructed boys’ hostel at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Khela in Tirap district on Sunday, Lowangdong appealed to the people of Khela village to generously donate additional land for future expansion of the school. He said that several essential infrastructures are yet to be developed to meet the growing needs of the institution.
The MLA commended the efforts of the school administration, teachers, and all supporting agencies in nurturing young minds of the region. He encouraged the students to maintain discipline, work diligently, and make the best use of the opportunities provided under the EMRS system.
The principal of the school highlighted some remarkable progress and achievements of EMRS, and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to providing quality education while ensuring holistic development of every student.
In addition to academic excellence, he said, the school actively promotes a wide range of co-curricular activities, including yoga, parade, drawing, cultural programmes, games, and sports to foster discipline, creativity, leadership, and overall personality development among students.
The principal also informed the participants that the students of EMRS Khela were given an opportunity to meet the president of India on 15 August, 2024, as special invitees representing Arunachal Pradesh in traditional Nocte attire.
He further said that the students have consistently excelled in district- and state-level competitions, winning numerous accolades and bringing laurels to both the school and the state.
The fund for the hostel was provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs under the Scheme for Grant to State Tribal Education Agencies.
EMRS Khela is a co-educational residential school functioning under the National Education Society for Tribal Students, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and is managed by the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti.
