Editor,
I would like to draw attention to an often-overlooked consequence of prolonged recruitment delays – the silent cost borne by aspirants and the loss of valuable human resources for the state.
Every year, hundreds of young graduates from agriculture and horticulture institutions return with the hope of contributing to Arunachal Pradesh’ agricultural and horticultural development. Many aspire to serve the state through technical positions such as horticulture development officer (HDO) and agriculture development officer (ADO). However, when recruitment remains uncertain, the consequences extend far beyond the examination hall.
Aspirants devote considerable time and effort preparing for these examinations with the hope of serving the state. In the absence of a clear timeline, uncertainty gradually replaces motivation, making it difficult for candidates to plan their future and career path. While preparation demands patience and commitment, prolonged uncertainty inevitably takes a toll on confidence and morale.
The impact is not limited to candidates alone. Departments facing vacancies are deprived of fresh technical manpower. At a time when agriculture and horticulture are expected to play a major role in improving farmers’ livelihoods, promoting entrepreneurship, and ensuring food security, delays in filling technical positions can affect service delivery at the grassroots level.
Recruitment calendars are welcomed by aspirants because they provide direction and help candidates plan their preparation. However, when tentative schedules are repeatedly missed without adequate communication, uncertainty grows and confidence gradually declines. Aspirants do not expect miracles; they only seek clarity, transparency, and timely information.
The issue is therefore not merely about one examination or one batch of candidates. It is about preserving the faith of educated youths in public institutions and ensuring that talented graduates remain motivated to serve the state.
I sincerely hope that the authorities concerned will take note of the concerns of aspirants and make every effort to ensure timely recruitment and better communication in the future. A clear roadmap, even if tentative, can go a long way in restoring confidence among young people waiting for an opportunity to contribute to Arunachal.
A concerned aspirant
