Editor,
I sincerely request the APPSC to consider preparing and operating a waiting list for the recently conducted junior specialist examination.
It is common that a number of selected candidates may not ultimately join the post, or may resign shortly after joining because they are already employed in larger cities, or are awaiting appointments in other institutions. As a result, several vacancies may remain unfilled despite the completion of the recruitment process.
Preparing a waiting list would ensure that such vacancies can be filled promptly by other deserving candidates based on merit, without the need to initiate an entirely new recruitment process.
This would provide several benefits:
- It would ensure that government healthcare services do not suffer due to vacant specialist posts.
- It would provide an opportunity to genuine candidates who are willing and ready to serve in the state.
- It would save considerable time, administrative effort, and public resources that are otherwise required for issuing a fresh advertisement and conducting another examination.
- Candidates invest significant time, effort, and financial resources, and undergo considerable mental stress while preparing for and appearing in such competitive examinations. A waiting list would help ensure that deserving candidates are not deprived of an opportunity merely because selected candidates choose not to join.
This practice is followed by many recruiting agencies and contributes to efficient and timely filling of vacancies while maintaining complete transparency and merit.
I therefore humbly request the commission to consider preparing and operating a waiting list for the current junior specialist recruitment, in accordance with the applicable rules and policies, so that any vacancies arising due to non-joining or resignation may be filled expeditiously.
