Editor,

I wish to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the prolonged delay in the publication of the shortlisted candidates’ list for assistant professor interviews in various departments under the APPSC.

It is deeply disappointing that the commission has failed to adhere to its own annual examination calendar. As per the schedule notified earlier, the interviews for assistant professor posts were expected to be conducted in April 2026. However, with May now nearing its end, aspirants are still awaiting even a basic notification regarding the shortlisted candidates or interview dates.

More concerning is the fact that despite repeated appeals and concerns voiced by aspirants through newspapers and public platforms, the commission has remained silent on the matter. The absence of any clarification or official communication has only intensified uncertainty and frustration among candidates who have invested years of hard work, patience, and preparation into this recruitment process.

The engineering recruitment process has already been completed, while interviews for postgraduate teachers are presently underway and are expected to conclude by 28 May. In such circumstances, it is only reasonable to expect that the assistant professor recruitment process should also be expedited without further delay.

The issue demands urgent attention because government colleges across Arunachal Pradesh are already grappling with an acute shortage of regular faculty members. Hundreds of guest teachers continue to shoulder academic responsibilities on minimal remuneration, often without job security or adequate recognition. With the new academic session set to commence soon, this is the most appropriate time for the government and the commission to address the shortage of teachers in colleges in a serious and time-bound manner.

The shortage of qualified faculty members not only affects the quality of higher education but also directly impacts the academic future of thousands of students across the state. Delays in recruitment send an unfortunate message regarding the priority being accorded to higher education and youth aspirations in Arunachal.

Moreover, unnecessary delays in one recruitment process invariably disrupt the schedule of other examinations mentioned in the annual calendar, thereby creating a cascading effect of uncertainty for numerous aspirants awaiting different examinations under the commission.

Therefore, I humbly urge the commission to uphold the credibility of its annual calendar by expediting the publication of the shortlisted candidates’ list and interview schedule for assistant professor posts at the earliest, in the larger interest of students, aspirants, and the future of higher education in the state.

An aspirant
