NAHARLAGUN, 20 Jul: A 10-day residential teachers’ training programme to enhance teachers’ professional competence, strengthen value-based education, and equip educators with skills to implement the National Education Policy [NEP] 2020 began at the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) training centre in Pachin Colony here on Monday.

The training programme is being organised by the ASVS for newly appointed as well as serving teachers of the ASVS, according to an ASVS release.

Director of Elementary Education Tani Talom, who inaugurated the training programme, highlighted the importance of effectively implementing the NEP 2020, adopting learner-centred teaching methods.

He commended the ASVS for following the NCERT curriculum, and assured continued support from the Department of Elementary Education in teachers’ training and educational development.

The director further emphasised the need to preserve local languages and cultural heritage by strengthening the teaching of regional languages in schools. He also informed the participants about the strengthened state assessment system under the Arunachal Pradesh State Board Examination for Class 5 and Class 8.

State project coordinator (pedagogy-ISSE) Nido Sakter spoke on the relevance of the Indian knowledge system and the role of teachers in imparting value-based education.

Vidya Bharati’s Northeastern region training in-charge Dharmadev Brahmachari explained the objectives of the training programme and encouraged teachers to actively participate in all academic sessions.

Earlier, ASVS secretary Tumge Lollen highlighted the history, vision and educational mission of the Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan and the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti.

Participants from 12 districts, representing Vidya Niketans, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Khela Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and Ekal Vidyalayas, including those from remote areas of Longding and Vijayanagar, are attending the programme.
