ZIRO, 8 Sep: As excitement builds for the upcoming Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM), local authorities and festival organisers gathered here on Tuesday to ensure that the iconic event runs smoothly, safely, and sustainably.

Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme chaired a high-level coordination meeting at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall here to map out logistics, safety protocols, and environmental measures ahead of the festival.

The meeting brought together key department heads, law enforcement, emergency services, and ZFM organiser Hano Bobby to align efforts across all fronts. Community involvement will kick off early with a massive pre-festival cleanup drive scheduled for 19 September. Local residents and teams will join forces to clean the main corridor stretching from Pei Gate to Pinegrove, setting a pristine stage for arriving music lovers.

Public health, safety, and eco-friendly practices took centre stage during the discussions. To safeguard visitors, all food stalls and vendors will undergo compulsory licencing, with the district medical officer issuing no objection certificates for a nominal Rs 200 fee.

The trade development officer will oversee the mandatory registration of all official campsites.

Protecting Ziro's delicate natural landscape remains a top priority, prompting a strict ban on single-use plastics across the main festival grounds and surrounding areas.

Infrastructure preparations are already underway to handle the incoming influx of attendees.

Executive engineers from the RWD and Highway divisions have been directed to complete essential road repairs along major access routes promptly. For emergency readiness, operational fire extinguishers will be mandatory across all stalls and camping grounds, backed by increased monitoring from local police and fire personnel.

To keep communication seamless, the administration will also publish a consolidated directory of essential emergency contact numbers for the public.

The session concluded with clear financial guidelines established for vendor payment structures, ensuring transparency for local operators.

Attended by administrative officers, and heads of public works, health, and civil divisions, the meeting reflected a united commitment to delivering a memorable and secure ZFM 2026. (DIPRO)
