TAWANG, 30 Jun: The Tawang district administration conducted a Seva Aapke Dwar (SAD) 2.0 camp at Mago village on Tuesday, bringing a wide range of government services to the doorstep of the people.
The initiative aimed to ensure last-mile delivery of essential government services while creating awareness on key public initiatives, including the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, census operations, waste management, plastic pollution, and various citizen-centric welfare schemes.
Nineteen government departments participated in the camp, offering a wide range of services.
The Agriculture and Veterinary Departments distributed vegetable seeds, animal feed, vitamins, and veterinary medicines to farmers and livestock owners.
Aadhaar enrolment, free health check-ups, and several other public services were also provided, benefiting a total of 543 people.
Addressing the gathering, ZPC Leki Gombu said that the camp had originally been planned last year but could not be conducted due to heavy snowfall. He urged the villagers to make full use of the services being offered, and encouraged them to bring forward any issues requiring his intervention for timely resolution.
Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo noted the remarkable pace of development witnessed in Mago village over the past few years. She expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of tourists visiting the remote border village even during the lean tourism season, describing it as an encouraging sign for the local economy.
Referring to the district administration’s initiative last year to train the youths of Mago in hospitality and tourism, she stated that similar capacity-building programmes could be organised again this year if required.
She encouraged local residents to establish more homestays and hotels to cater to the growing influx of tourists and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Following the camp, the deputy commissioner, ZPC, and the commanding officer of the Gurkha Battalion, Chuna, along with other officials, visited Gongkar Lake, situated at an altitude of approximately 15,650 feet, where they participated in a cleanliness drive in and around the lake area.
During the visit, the commanding officer briefed the delegation on the Indian Army’s initiatives to facilitate and assist tourists visiting Gongkar Lake while promoting responsible tourism and environmental conservation in the region. (DIPRO)
