ITANAGAR, 15 Jun: In a step to enhance employability and workplace readiness, the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (SDE) commenced the ‘finishing course programme’ for the final-year batch of 10 Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trainees here on Monday.

The programme, scheduled from 15 to 19 June, is designed as a bridge between institutional learning and industry expectations. The weeklong curriculum has been structured to cover digital literacy, financial literacy (including the Chief Ministers Soft Loan Scheme), government entrepreneurship schemes, and sessions on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), State Apprenticeship Promotion Schemes (SAPS), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana,

Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, employee rights and benefits, communication and soft skills, resume writing, interview preparation, and pathways for higher education and self-employment.

On the inaugural day, sessions were conducted at the ITI by resource persons from the State Bank of India (SBI). These will be followed by sessions by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Labour & Employment Department, government polytechnic and government colleges, providing trainees with practical knowledge and real-world perspectives.

The subject-specific expertise and practical insights shared by these institutions will help trainees understand industry expectations and make informed decisions regarding employment, higher studies or entrepreneurship.

In Siang district, the finishing course for the ITI students in Pangin commenced on Monday, with the objective of equipping the trainees with essential skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The inaugural session on basic financial literacy was conducted by Pangin SBI Branch Manager A Pegu, who shared insights on financial planning, banking services, savings, and responsible financial management.

The finishing course, scheduled from 15 to 19 June, will cover diverse topics, including government schemes, digital literacy, resume writing, interview preparation, labour and employment benefits, and higher education opportunities.

The programme is being organised by the SDE Department as part of its commitment to building skilled and industry-ready youths. (DIPROs)
