Editor,
We are writing to seek clarification regarding the upcoming recruitment for the post of sub-inspector (SI) by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), which may be conducted in the coming year.
The APPSC faced a prolonged disruption following the question-paper leakage episode in 2022. Subsequently, the resignation of members of the commission resulted in the commission becoming non-functional in administrative matters for approximately two years. The commission itself referred to this period in its official notice dated 6 August, 2024.
In view of this prolonged interruption in the recruitment process, we would be grateful if the commission could clarify the following:
Å What will be the prescribed age limit and relevant cut-off date for candidates applying for the upcoming SI recruitment?
Å Considering the prolonged period during which regular recruitment opportunities were affected, will the commission/government consider providing any special age relaxation to candidates who crossed the prescribed upper age limit during this period?
Å If such age relaxation is being considered, would it be applicable to candidates who otherwise fulfil all eligibility requirements but became over-age because of the prolonged gap in recruitment opportunities?
We fully understand that the final eligibility conditions can only be confirmed through the official recruitment notification. However, clarification in this matter would be extremely helpful to candidates who have lost several years of opportunity during the period when regular recruitment was disrupted.
We therefore request the commission to provide any available information regarding the expected age criteria and whether any compensatory age relaxation is being considered for the upcoming SI recruitment.
Concerned candidates
