I am writing to bring to the notice of the education minister the difficulties being faced by government colleges in Arunachal Pradesh due to the delay in the recruitment process by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). As per the existing schedule, the APPSC was expected to complete the interview process for faculty positions in a timely manner. However, the interviews have not been conducted as planned, resulting in a prolonged delay. With the new academic session scheduled to commence next month, this delay has created a serious shortage of teaching faculty members in many government colleges across the state.

Most of the existing guest faculty members currently serving in these institutions were selected through a rigorous interview process. They are well acquainted with the curriculum, academic environment, and specific requirements of their respective institutions. Their continued service is essential to ensure uninterrupted academic activities, including regular classes, student counselling, guidance, and other co-curricular and administrative responsibilities.

It is a matter of concern that several colleges are functioning with only a single regular faculty member or, in some cases, with no regular faculty member at all. In such situations, guest faculty members have been efficiently managing the academic workload, and are providing crucial support to the students. Any disruption in their services at this critical juncture will severely hamper the academic progress and overall functioning of these institutions.

I earnestly request the education minister to kindly issue necessary directions to continue the services of the existing guest faculty members in all government colleges until the APPSC completes its recruitment process and regular faculty members are appointed. This interim arrangement will ensure smooth conduct of the new academic session and safeguard the interests of the students.

I also suggest that a copy of this request be forwarded to the director, Directorate of Higher and Technical Education for immediate necessary action at the administrative level.

I am confident that under the minister’s dynamic leadership and thoughtful intervention, this genuine issue will be addressed promptly in the larger interest of higher education in the state.
