MIAO, 17 Jul: Siraiong Singpho has been appointed as non-official independent director of the state-owned Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC), along with Niwas Mandal of Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh.
The Ministry of Steel issued the appointment order on 14 July, and the same was communicated to the stock exchanges the next day.
Both directors have been appointed for a three years.
The MSTC is a Mini Ratna Category-I central public sector enterprise operating under the Ministry of Steel.
Incorporated in 1964 and headquartered in Kolkata, the company has transitioned from primarily regulating scrap exports to becoming one of India’s leading e-commerce, e-auctions and trading operations. The company is widely utilised for industrial raw material trading and conducting transparent government, banking, and public sector e-auctions.
Singpho, son N’hkumsang Territorial Council chiefand former MLA KG Singpho, is an executive member of the state BJP. He is also a successful entrepreneur and prominent political and social figure of Changlang district.
He contested the 2009 and 2014 Assembly election from Diyun-Bordumsa seat but lost.
Singpho thanked the national and state BJP leaderships for appointing him as a non-official independent director.
Meanwhile, the United Miao Mission and its youth wing, the Miao Singpho Ramma Hpung congratulated Singpho and expressed confidence that he would use his position to benefit his people, the district, and the state.
