ITANAGAR, 19 May: Education Minister PD Sonaemphasised on creation of high standard infrastructures in the state’s higher education institutions (HEIs).

Chairing the 9th meeting of the Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council (APSHEC) here on Tuesday to review the ongoing and completed projects under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), Sona thanked the union Education Ministry for financing key infrastructures of the HEIs in the state under the RUSA and the PM-USHA scheme, and advised maximum utilisation of the funds received from the central government.

“Being a resource crunch state, we must utilise the funds economically and execute the projects maintaining the quality and quantity,” he said.

Earlier, DHTE Dr Milorai Modi highlighted the role of the council in implementation of the RUSA and the PM-USHA scheme in the state. He informed that,as a statutory body, the APSHEC has a great role in the holistic growth and development of higher education in the state.

He requested the council members to give their valuable insights for the development of higher education in the state.

RUSA/PM-USHA state nodal officer Minto Etedelivered a presentation on the action taken on the decisions made in the previous meetings, and also the status of RUSA/PM-USHA projects.

Education Commissioner Amjad Tak advised the council to provide constant guidance, “so that the higher and technical education continuously moves on the right track.” He advised obtaining land allotment certificate/land possession certificate by all HEIs at the earliest, and urged the stakeholders to be proactive in implementation of key projects for the greater good of the higher education sector in the state.

He further stressed on constant monitoring and on-time completion of RUSA/PM-USHA projects being implemented in the state. “As per the government’s direction, all the new projects are to be assigned to a single executing agency, that is PWD, so that uniformity in infrastructure can be maintained,” he added.
