NAMPONG, 14 Aug: Suspected insurgents attacked the Assam Rifles (AR) post in the Longvi area here in Changlang district during the early hours of Friday.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 3:15 am. After exchanging fire with the security personnel for nearly an hour, the insurgents fled into the nearby forest.
There have also been claims about explosions during the attack, but no official confirmation has been received in this regard.
Changlang SP K Padu informed The Arunachal Times that a police team has been dispatched to the area of the incident and the police are yet to receive any official confirmation about the incident and the possible number of casualties.
It is yet to be confirmed which insurgent group carried out the attack on the security personnel.
The Arunachal Times also tried reaching the AR for confirmation but did not receive any response.
The security forces have meanwhile launched search and combing operations in the area.
