DAPORIJO, 29 Jun: MLA Taniya Soki kicked off the 2nd Talo Mugli Memorial Football Tournament at the mini outdoor stadium here in Upper Subansiri district on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Soki highlighted various initiatives under the Khelo India programme and the progress made by India in the sports sector in the recent years.

He said that the government has been strengthening sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for young athletes to excel at the state, national and international levels.

“Sports today offer immense career prospects, including government employment and professional opportunities. The sports sector has emerged as an important industry contributing to the country’s development,” he said.

Earlier, the MLA paid tributes to late Mugli and recalled his sacrifices and valuable contributions to society.
