The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case to investigate alleged irregularities in PMGSY road construction projects under the DPIU-I RWD Division, Changlang, with six engineers and officials under investigation to determine their involvement in the alleged irregularities.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed by the Changlang BJP regarding the CK Road to Wotlom (Thamiyang), Stage-II, and CK Road to Jongpho-Hate projects.

The allegation is that both projects were shown as completed in official records and payments were released despite incomplete and poor-quality work. It is further alleged that only about 2 km of work has been completed on the CK Road-Wotlom project, and the remaining funds are insufficient to finish it.

In the CK Road-Jongpho-Hate project, only about 50% of the blacktopping work has been completed, yet a completion certificate was allegedly issued.

The complainants stated that repeated verbal and written complaints to the executive engineer and other authorities received no effective action, indicating possible negligence by RWD officials.

With the ACB team having conducted a physical inspection of both project sites in the presence of the complainants and RWD officials, it remains to be seen how the investigation takes shape and what the possible outcome will be.

Allegations of irregularities have been rampant in many road projects in the state, and it is time accountability is sought not only from the government but also from those implementing these projects.
