SEPPA, 6 Aug: A district-level training programme on data collection and compilation of village directory (VD) and town directory (TD) for the District Census Handbook (DCHB) was conducted at the secretariat here in East Kameng district on Thursday.

The training was imparted by a master trainer from the Directorate of Census Operations, Shillong, Meghalaya, who provided comprehensive guidance on the methodology, prescribed formats, data quality standards, and procedures for accurate collection and compilation of VD and TD data.

The sessions emphasised the importance of ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely submission of data in accordance with census guidelines.

The programme was attended by the additional district census officer, charge census officers, the dealing assistant, and field functionaries of all census charges.

The participants actively engaged in the interactive sessions and discussed various operational aspects of data collection and compilation.

The training highlighted the significance of the DCHB as an important statistical document for planning, governance, and evidence-based decision-making. It concluded with an interactive discussion, during which the participants’ queries were addressed, reinforcing the importance of coordinated efforts for successful preparation of the DCHB for East Kameng.
