YAZALI, 2 Jul: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, travelled deep into the hardest-hit corners of Keyi Panyor district on Wednesday to assess the destruction caused by flash floods and landslides and to coordinate immediate, large-scale relief effort.

Local representatives and administrators, including MLA Toko Tatung, DC Shweta Nagarkoti, and SP Angad Mehta, have been leading the intense, round-the-clock emergency operations on the ground, guiding recovery forces and coordinating directly with the visiting delegation.

“Navigating severely fractured road networks, the leaders made their way directly to ground-zero and the most hit communities in and around the NEEPCO area to sit down with families who have lost their homes, livestock, and livelihoods to the deluge, offering firm assurances that they will not be left to rebuild alone, and that both the central and state governments are completely united in bringing normalcy back to the valley,” the Keyi Panyor district administration informed in a release.

While comforting displaced residents, Chouhan made it clear that, while long-term rebuilding is crucial, the immediate focus must remain on human survival and dignity. Under the close supervision of the local administration, response teams have been actively distributing food rations, setting up emergency medical camps, and deploying clean drinking water tankers backed by national emergency reserves.

Looking forward, a multi-agency team is already tracking structural losses to help fund permanent housing replacements and fast-track direct cash assistance to farmers whose fields were washed away, the release stated.

Concurrently, emergency engineers are carving out temporary bypass routes while a major restoration blueprint is being prepared to permanently fix broken bridges and cut-off highways across Keyi Panyor.

“Khandu expressed deep gratitude for the swift, hands-on response from the central leadership, noting that having leaders stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the community on the ground provides immense hope and reassurance to the people of Arunachal Pradesh during this incredibly trying time,” the release said.
