ITANAGAR, 8 Jul: A central team, headed by Nishtha Tiwari, joint secretary (IS-II), ministry of home affairs, on Wednesday arrived in Keyi Panyor district and assessed damage to infrastructure, agriculture and other properties caused by the recent flash floods in the region.

Traveling by road from Itanagar via Kimin, the team, accompanied by disaster management secretary Dani Salu, conducted multiple on-the-spot inspections along the highway to evaluate extensive formation breaches and active landslide zones impacting regional connectivity. The team then proceeded to the ground, visiting the worst-hit areas in and around the Posa NEEPCO Colony and Possa village to observe the flood damages firsthand.

Following the field inspections, the team then held an interactive session with the deputy commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti and superintendent of police Angad Mehta, alongside local district officers and affected public representatives.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner gave detailed briefing on infrastructure losses, agricultural damage, and immediate relief requirements for the district.

The ground observations recorded across Yazali and surrounding areas will serve as a foundational component of the inter-ministerial central team’s final assessment report to the ministry of home affairs, which will determine the admissibility of additional central financial assistance for the state’s recovery.
