The recurring erosion by the Siang river in Mebo subdivision is no longer a seasonal inconvenience but a long-term threat to villagers. The river's high monsoon discharge, heavy sediment load and shifting channel are contributing to severe bank erosion, particularly along the vulnerable left bank. Borguly remains highly vulnerable.

Namsing, Seram, Kongkul, Sigar and other villages have also been severely affected for years.

In the past, villagers have successfully experimented with bamboo and wooden spars, while boulder spurs and other protective works have also been attempted.

However, there is a need for a scientifically designed, long-term river management plan, as the erosion continues to threaten farmland and livelihoods with each passing year.

Anti-erosion measures should be taken without delay, based on proper technical assessment, along with a long-term strategy to protect vulnerable riverbanks.
