BHALUKPONG, 1 Aug: A 56-year-old woman was found dead in a pool of blood in her room in Sessa in Bhalukpong subdivision of West Kameng district on Friday morning.
According to the police, the Bhalukpong police station received a written complaint from one Akash Tamang, stating that his mother, Chini Maya Tamang, was found dead in her room at the India Hotel, which the family owns.
The incident is suspected to have occurred between 12:30 am and 5 am on Friday.
According to the hotel maid, who was sleeping in another room, she went to wake up the woman in the morning and found her dead, lying in a pool of blood inside her room. All her valuables, including a gold chain, rings and a bracelet, were missing. In addition, a steel almirah in the room was found broken, indicating the possibility of theft associated with the crime.
Consequently, a case was registered under Sections 331 (4), 305 (A) and 103 (1) of the BNS, and the investigation was taken up by Inspector T Dorjee.
The Bhalukpong police, along with a forensic science laboratory team from Bomdila, visited the place of occurrence to investigate and collect evidence from the scene of the crime. The case is at the initial stage of investigation, the police stated.
