TAWANG, 18 Jul: General Officer Commanding of the 5 Mountain Division, Maj Gen Amit Nautiyal, handed over computer sets and traditional dance costumes to various schools and NGOs here on Saturday under Operation Sadbhavana.
The programme was attended by Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, Tawang Brigade Commander Brigadier Bhupal Singh, ADC Rinchin Leta, Divisional Forest Officer Piyush Gaikwad, senior officers of the Indian Army and the civil administration, GBs, monks from the Tawang monastery, NCC cadets, and others.
Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Nautiyal reiterated that the Army remains committed to the socioeconomic development of border communities through initiatives that promote education, cultural preservation, and community welfare.
He interacted with the NCC cadets, monks, and gaon buras, appreciating their contribution towards nation-building and strengthening the bond between the armed forces and the local community.
The distribution of computer sets is expected to enhance digital learning opportunities for students, while the traditional dance costumes will support schools and cultural groups in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Monpa community. (DIPRO)
