SEPPA, 14 Jul: In a remarkable display of dedication and emergency medical expertise, a 108 ambulance team safely delivered a healthy baby boy inside an ambulance after a pregnant woman went into advanced labour while being referred for specialised medical care.

The woman had been referred from the East Kameng district hospital in Seppa at around 10:40 pm due to complications, including ruptured membranes, suspected foetal macrosomia, and meconium-stained amniotic fluid, requiring urgent referral to a higher medical centre.

However, while en route, her condition progressed rapidly, and at approximately 3 am, she developed intense labour pains, making delivery unavoidable before reaching the referral hospital.

Responding swiftly, emergency medical technician (EMT) Ade Tungi and pilot Adom Tajo assisted the mother in delivering a healthy baby boy, weighing 4 kilograms, inside the ambulance.

The EMT immediately provided essential newborn care, including an Apgar score assessment, while ensuring appropriate post-delivery care for the mother. Both were continuously monitored throughout the journey. Following the successful delivery, the ambulance team transported the mother and her newborn back to district hospital in Seppa for further medical evaluation, postnatal care, and observation.

Hospital authorities later confirmed that both the mother and the baby were stable and in good health.
