CHANGLANG, 5 Sep: In a display of dedication and emergency medical expertise, a 108 emergency ambulance service team safely delivered a healthy baby boy inside a moving ambulance after a pregnant woman went into advanced labour with complications of meconium aspiration.

At around 5:15 pm on Friday, the 108 emergency control room received an emergency call from the Changlang district hospital for a referral case of pregnancy to Margherita hospital in Assam.

The ambulance team immediately reached the patient and began transporting her to Margherita hospital. However, while en route, her labour progressed rapidly, and at approximately 5:30 pm, delivery became unavoidable.

Emergency medical technician Womroi Jugli and pilot Karan Barman safely assisted the mother in delivering a healthy baby boy, weighing 2.5 kg, inside the ambulance.

The EMT immediately provided essential newborn care, including an Apgar score assessment, with the newborn scoring 9/10, while also ensuring appropriate post-delivery care for the mother.

Both the mother and the newborn were then transported safely to Mayflower Hospital in Margherita, where hospital authorities confirmed that they were stable and in good health.
