Editor,
I would like to congratulate the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on the successful completion of the long awaited postgraduate teacher (PGT) examination, and to all the selected candidates.
The upcoming trained graduate teacher (TGT) recruitment will likewise be an important milestone in the commission’s history.
As an aspirant who sat for both the PGT recruitment test and the mains examination, I appreciate the commission’s efforts. However, I wish to draw attention to shortcomings in conducting the examination at the ground level. During my examinations, I observed numerous candidates openly communicating and sharing answers since all the candidates in the room were from the same academic discipline. Despite the presence of invigilators, this practice persisted. Such behaviour undermines the integrity of the selection process, since even a single mark can materially affect final rankings and outcomes.
With the TGT examination being objective in format, I respectfully urge the commission to consider seating arrangements that minimise opportunities for collusion – specifically by ensuring that candidates of the same subject are not seated adjacent to one another. I trust the commission will take appropriate steps to strengthen examination supervision and seating protocols.
