DAPORIJO, 6 Jun: The Apatani Welfare Committee (AWC), Upper Subansiri districtorganised a cleanliness and tree plantation drive in the area adjacent to the Jaring ground here in Upper Subansiri district on Saturday, in view of the forthcoming Dree festival.
The programme, conducted under the theme ‘Clean Daporijo, Green Daporijo’, witnessed enthusiastic participation of members of the Apatani community and various dignitaries.
Among the attendees were Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) president Larji Rigia Dukam, the deputy commissioner, additional deputy commissioner, and executive members of the AWC.
Several prominent personalities and officials actively participated in the plantation drive, including Nacho PWD EE Tumkam Nalo, executive members of the TCS, the TCS women’s wing general secretary, and other members of the society.
Their collective participation highlighted the spirit of inter-community cooperation and environmental stewardship.
Men, women and children of the Apatani community residing in Upper Subansiri district turned out in large numbers to support the initiative. Together, participants undertook a cleanliness drive and planted oil palm saplings along the designated stretch, contributing towards the beautification and greening of Daporijo township. (DIPRO)
