ITANAGAR, 6 Jun: Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national general secretary Tarh Johny has lodged a complaint with the Itanagar police, seeking an investigation into the conduct of certain organisers and team leaders associated with the recent Janjati Sanskritik Samagam held in New Delhi.
In his complaint to the Itanagar police station OC, Johny, who is also the chairman of the North East Youth Congress Coordination Committee, alleged that speeches, slogans, and public messaging at the event “targeted a particular religion capable of creating social unrest, religious polarisation and division among innocent indigenous tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh.”
He also alleged that tribal participants were made to chant religious slogans (Jai Shri Ram).
“…indigenous tribal communities, including those traditionally practicing distinct cultural customs and dietary practices, were allegedly portrayed or associated with particular religious identities in a manner capable of creating misunderstanding, hostility, or division among fellow tribal communities.
“Such actions may adversely affect communal harmony, social cohesion, and public peace within the state,” Johny stated.
The complainant urged the police to register an FIR for cognisable offences, investigate the role of the individuals named in the FIR and others found responsible, and examine speeches, audiovisual recordings, social media posts, banners, and other promotional material linked to the event.
Johny expressed his willingness to provide supporting material and information available with him to the investigating authorities.
