KHONSA, 8 Aug: Chief Secretary (CS) Manish Kumar Gupta on Saturday undertook a comprehensive review of key developmental initiatives in Tirap district, with special focus on the implementation of flagship schemes and major infrastructure projects.

The CS was accompanied by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain and Health and Family Welfare Director Marbom Basar during his visit here.

While reviewing the progress of ongoing developmental works across various sectors during the review meeting, the CS stressed the importance of timely execution, quality assurance, effective monitoring, and inter-departmental coordination.

The CS suggested to the Khonsa DHO to create public awareness about replacing shifting cultivation with scientific way of horticulture under flagship programmes for sustainable livelihoods of the farmers of the region.

He emphasised that all departments must work in close coordination to ensure successful implementation of government schemes and timely completion of infrastructure projects for the benefit of the people.

Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik delivered a presentation highlighting the district's overall developmental status, major infrastructure projects, achievements, ongoing initiatives, and administrative challenges like shortage of manpower at the zonal general hospital here, and roads damaged in various locations.

Detailed presentations were also made by various departments on the progress of the schemes and projects under their respective departments.

The CS commended the efforts of the district administration, and directed all departments to maintain transparency, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, ensure quality in execution, and expedite project implementation, so that the intended benefits reach the people within the stipulated timelines.

The review meeting was attended also by Zilla Parishad Chairperson John KK Matey, SP Aditya, Khonsa ADC Namneet Singh, Deomali ADC Tana Bapu, and other administrative and departmental officials.

Earlier, the CS, accompanied by the CEO, the health secretary, DC, SP, ADC and the PWD executive engineer, inspected the newly constructed first-floor extension of the existing PWD circuit house here.

The CS appreciated the quality and aesthetic design of the newly constructed facility, and commended PWD EE Taro Jeram for his efforts in executing the project. (DIPRO)
