NAHARLAGUN, 20 May: The CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology branch organized a one-day awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and students on Wednesday as part of the celebration of the “National Intellectual Property Festival 2026.” Around 45 participants, including research scholars, attended the event.
The theme of this year’s programme was “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate.”
Scientist E Dr. Ravindra Rawal delivered a presentation on the topic, “Empowering Indigenous Wisdom through Innovation, IPR, and Enterprise for Sustainable Growth.”
Dr. Rawal highlighted the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with modern innovation for sustainable development. He also emphasized the role of IPR in protecting traditional knowledge, fostering creativity, and promoting entrepreneurship.
Dean of the Faculty of Law at Rajiv Gandhi University, Dr. Topi Basar, emphasized the importance of IPR, Geographical Indication (GI) tags, trademarks, and related domains.
Attending the programme, Naharlagun circle officer Nani Mamung assured continued administrative support for the well-being of the institute.
Scientist F and CSIR-NEIST branch in-charge Dr. Chandan Tamuly outlined the objectives of the programme.
