BOMDILA, 21 Jun: In a step towards promoting a drug-free society and enhancing public awareness, West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar and Bomdila DSP Sashi Dore jointly launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat awareness pamphlet issued by the district police, during a jan kalyan shivir held here on Saturday.
The pamphlet, published under the guidance of West Kameng SP Dr DW Thongon, aims to create mass awareness in public interest. It serves as a practical guide for citizens, particularly youths and families, by providing information on various initiatives aimed at preventing substance abuse and supporting those affected by addiction.
It highlights the Yodha Bandhu app, which offers counselling and support services for individuals struggling with substance dependence, encouraging them to seek help without hesitation.
The DC and other dignitaries emphasised that awareness, timely counselling, community participation, and accessible support systems are key to addressing the challenges posed by substance abuse. They appreciated the efforts to convey important social messages through a simple, technology-driven, and child-friendly approach.
The pamphlet also provides information on the MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asuchna Kendra)portal, the national narcotics helpline portal. The digital initiative aims to establish a user-friendly platform through which citizens can conveniently report drug-related matters round the clock.
To strengthen public involvement, the pamphlet provides details of toll-free helpline numbers through which citizens can confidentially report drug-related activities and seek assistance. The initiative aims to empower communities to become active partners in creating a safer and healthier society.
The publication also features details about the Choo Mantar app, an innovative platform designed to spread awareness about the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Recognising the importance of child safety, the pamphlet also incorporates awareness of the POCSO Act through an engaging snakes and ladders game. The game has been designed as an interactive learning tool to educate children and parents about personal safety, appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, and the importance of reporting abuse.
