Editor,

I wish to draw attention to the ongoing recruitment process for animal science subject matter specialist (SMS) post at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Karsingsa in Papum Pare district (AHV/P 1139/2006 Vol I).

The walk in interview was conducted on 28 April. Now, more than 20 days have passed since the interview, yet the results remain undeclared. Should not the interview results be notified promptly? This prolonged silence has caused frustration among candidates and raised serious doubts about the credibility of the process.

When the office concerned was asked, the response was that the after the interview the result file has been forwarded to higher authorities for further official procedure. But what further procedure is required to declare the result of just one post? Are the marks awarded by the selection panel and the score-card not sufficient to finalise the results? Such delays inevitably fuel suspicion that merit may once again be sidelined, and that undeserving candidates with political or bureaucratic connections could be favoured.

Nowadays, transparency in recruitment through walk in interviews is hardly possible. I therefore urge the secretary and director of animal husbandry to declare the results without further delay and issue a public notice explaining the reasons behind this postponement.
