ITANAGAR, 23 Jun: Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national general secretary Tarh Johny said that the state government must ensure that all deliberations concerning the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (APFRA) are conducted in a fair, impartial, and transparent manner.

“All Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) representatives should be avoided in discussions of the APFRA. Only the undiluted or non-polarised indigenous persons should be invited along with the various religious representatives by the government for a solution to the APFRA issue,” Johny said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The APFRA is a sensitive issue that directly affects the social fabric, indigenous identity, and communal harmony of our state. Therefore, individuals who are perceived to have ideological or organisational affiliations that may raise concerns about neutrality should not be part of the official consultation process,” he said, adding that the government should invite “only respected, non-polarised, and undiluted indigenous representatives who enjoy the confidence of all sections of society.”

The objective must be to find a peaceful, inclusive, and consensus-based solution that safeguards the rights, traditions, and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh without allowing ideological divisions to influence the process, Johny added.
