JULLANG, 12 Jun: The agriculture department of Himalayan University (HU) here organised a plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on Friday, under the supervision of the university’s Agriculture Department Head Dr Sonbeer Chack.

The drive was held to pay tributes to mothers, promote environmental conservation, and create awareness among the students and staff about the importance of planting trees.

The programme was inaugurated by HU Registrar Vijay Tripathi, Deputy Registrar Kido Bagra, and Research Dean Dr D Dev, in the presence of HoDs of different disciplines, faculty members, and students from various departments of the university.

The dignitaries emphasised the significance of tree planting as a symbol of gratitude and respect towards mothers while contributing to environmental sustainability.

During the event, participants actively took part in planting 100 saplings within the university campus. Faculty members and students enthusiastically joined the plantation drive and pledged to nurture the planted trees.

Dr Chack encouraged everyone to continue contributing towards a greener and healthier environment.
