NAHARLAGUN, 31 Aug: A two-week common basic induction training programme for 109 newly recruited junior engineers (JEs) of the Public Works Department (PWD) commenced at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) here on Monday.

The induction programme is designed to provide the newly recruited JEs with a common foundation in government functioning, service conduct, office procedures, technical responsibilities and other aspects essential for their effective transition into public service.

Addressing the trainee engineers at the inaugural programme, Chief Engineer John Langkam encouraged them to make the best use of their time at the ATI and actively engage in the learning opportunities provided during the training.

He observed that formal academic education and working in government are two different experiences, and advised the young engineers to remain humble, learn from both seniors and juniors, respect experience and develop themselves as professionals. Langkam also urged them to contribute sincerely towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.

ATI Director Pate Marik urged the participants to take the induction training seriously and make the best use of the resources, facilities and learning opportunities available at the institute, particularly during their probationary period.

Emphasising the distinction between a mere 'job' and 'service', he reminded the young engineers that government service carries a greater responsibility towards society.

The director further called upon the participants to discharge their duties with sevabhav (spirit of service), integrity and strict adherence to rules and procedures. He expressed confidence that the training would help the newly recruited engineers develop the professional knowledge, discipline and sense of responsibility required to effectively discharge their duties and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
