AALO, 24 Jun: Sports & youth affairs minister Kento Jini, along with West Siang DC Mindo Loyi, on Wednesday inspected the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) centre at Kabu, Rokken, and directed the urban development department to resume the collection and transportation of dry waste to the facility from 25 June.

He also directed the power department to ensure adequate power supply to the MRF for uninterrupted operation.

The minister asked the DC to issue necessary administrative directions to prevent any obstruction to urban department vehicles carrying dry waste. He appealed to the people of Pessing area not to create any hindrance or disturbance, particularly to the vehicles engaged in waste management activities.

The garbage management system of Aalo township has been facing several challenges for many years. Under the initiative and intervention of Jini, the MRF centre has been made operational for proper waste management.

The dry waste generated from Aalo township is being transported through Patum Bridge and Pessing area under Jomlo Circle of Siang district. The dry waste is properly managed, processed, and the standard operating procedures prescribed by the urban development department are being strictly followed.

However, the transportation of dry waste has been affected due to objections from some residents of the Pessing area, who have been preventing the department’s vehicles from passing through the area.

West Siang DC, district BJP president Lige Lollen, departmental engineers and officials from the power department accompanied the minister during the visit. (DIPRO)
