NAMSAI, 20 May: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Namsai, conducted its first participatory rural appraisal (PRA) at the 6th mile camp village in Namsai district on Tuesday to assess the agricultural activities of the villagers, resources available to them and constraints faced by them.

During the survey, an agro-ecological resources map was drawn by the villagers.

Group discussions on major problems in the agriculture and livestock sector helped identify financial and technical constraints, and major diseases and pests. It was also found that creation of SHGs has made micro-credit easier to access and available.

Based on these findings, the KVK officials advised farmers on balanced use of fertilizers, income opportunities for SHGs in agriculture and allied sectors, and pest management in major crops grown in the area.

Three quintal high-yielding rice variety Ranjit Sub-1 was distributed among the participating farmers.
