The publication of the final electoral roll for Arunachal Pradesh has revealed a contraction in the state's electorate. Following the completion of the special intensive revision (SIR), the final voter count in the state has drastically come down to a combined total of 6,96,026 voters with a deletion percentage is 21.57%.
This major reduction reflects a deletion of nearly two lakh voters - specifically a fall of 1,91,479 electors from the pre-SIR count of 8,87,505. Following an extensive verification and claims process, the number was finalised.
A demographic breakdown of the finalised roll reveals a gender-wise distribution of 3,43,709 men, 3,52,315 women, and just two third-gender electors. This sets the gender ratio at 1,025 women per 1,000 men. During the verification process, 2,18,588 notices were issued to electors, and 18,598 forms for claims and objections were received.
Aggrieved voters can appeal to the district magistrate within 15 days of the final publication, followed by a second appeal to the chief electoral officer within 30 days of the district magistrate's order.
