ITANAGAR, 21 Jul: The Election Commission on Tuesday published the draft electoral rolls for Arunachal Pradesh, removing names of 169,459 people from the voter lists following the enumeration phase of the special intensive revision (SIR).
State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain stated in a release that out of 8,87,505 registered electors as of 2 June, 2026, 7,18,046 (80.91%) have actively participated by submitting their enumeration forms by 14 July. All submitted forms have been digitised, he said.
After the enumeration exercise, which was conducted from 15 June to 14 July, the state’s electoral roll now has 7,18,046 voters.
“The total number of uncollectable enumeration forms is 1,69,459 (19.09% of the total electors). This includes death 25,573 (2.88%), untraceable/absent 54,678 (6.16%), permanently shifted 78980 (8.9%), already enrolled 4,947 (0.56%), and others 5,281 (0.6%),” the release said, providing key findings.
Genuine electors who were missed during the enumeration phase can still be added to the electoral rolls, the CEO said.
The window for filing claims and objections will remain open from 21 July to 20 August.
The ECI has encouraged young citizens who have attained or will attain 18 years of age on or before 1 July, 2026, to enrol using Form-6 along with a declaration form.
Special help desks and camps have been set up across the state, alongside volunteer deployment to assist senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups.
Sain stated that for new enrolments, corrections, or deletions, citizens must submit the relevant forms online or through their designated BLOs.
“A declaration form must accompany Form 6 and Form 8 and the list of absentee, shifted, duplicate, death entries is also available for public scrutiny on the CEO’s website,” the release said.
The final electoral roll will be published on 22 September.
The CEO on Monday held a meeting with representatives of all political parties in the state to sensitise them to the key findings of enumeration phase of the SIR, and also shared them with the draft electoral roll.
The ECI is implementing the SIR of the electoral rolls to ensure inclusion of all the eligible electors and exclusion of all the ineligible electors with full transparency at every stage of the process.
“The successful completion of this phase is the result of coordinated efforts of DEOs of all 26 election districts, 60 EROs, 206 AEROs, 248 BLO supervisors and 2,233 BLOs, supported by volunteers,” Sain said.
BLAs of all recognised political parties, including their district presidents, also actively participated, with 3,131 BLAs appointed by them.
The draft electoral roll will be available with the CEO, DEOs, EROs, AEROs and local BLOs. It can also be accessed online at https://ceoarunachal.nic.in, voters.eci.gov.in, or via ECINET mobile app, and from local BLOs.
The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to a transparent, participative and inclusive revision process, ensuring that no eligible elector is left out and no ineligible name remains in the electoral rolls.
