ITANAGAR, 15 Jun: The enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls began in Arunachal Pradesh on 15 June.

A total of 2,233 booth level officers (BLOs) and 3,131 booth level agents (BLAs) have been involved in the exercise to cover 8,87,505 electors in the state, the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) said in a release.

All eligible electors whose enumeration forms are received by electoral registration officers on or before 14 July will be included in the draft electoral rolls. However, those who are unable to submit their forms by 14 July may apply through Form 6, along with the prescribed declaration form, during the claims and objections period, the release said.

During the enumeration phase, BLOs will conduct house-to-house visits and provide enumeration forms to all existing electors.

“To ensure maximum coverage, BLOs will visit each household for distribution, collection, and verification of forms,” the release said, adding that electors may also submit the duly filled form either through the BLO or online.

With a view to ensure more involvement of political parties, the Election Commission India has allowed BLAs of recognised political parties to collect up to 50 forms per day from the public and hand them over to the BLOs before the draft publication.

The CEO has appealed to all eligible electors to participate in the SIR process and cooperate with election officials during the house-to-house visits.

The main objective of the SIR is to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible person is included in the electoral rolls.
