HAWAI, 9 Jul: The 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee was commemorated with great enthusiasm at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) here in Anjaw district on 6 July by the Art & Culture Department.

The programme was organised to honour the life, vision, and contributions of the eminent nationalist leader.

Earlier, as part of the commemorative celebration, an inter-school essay competition on the theme ‘One Nation, One Constitution & One Flag’ was conducted on 1 July. Students from GHSS Hawai, KGBV, Government Secondary School Watong, Government Secondary School Wala, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Hawai participated in both junior and senior categories, showcasing their thoughts on national unity and constitutional values.

The commemorative function was attended by Anjaw Zilla Parishad Chairperson Chenumlu Mitti Khamblaiand DSP Tage Tallang, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted Dr Mookerjee’s immense contribution to national integration, democratic values, and the unity and integrity of the country. They encouraged the students to imbibe the ideals of patriotism, constitutional values, and selfless service to the nation.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the essay competition. (DIPRO)
