PASIGHAT, 23 Jul: The Bogong Banggo Kébang (BBK) of Pasighat and allied organisations reiterated their demand for a transparent policy to protect public land and assets in the Pasighat urban area and prevent encroachments on premises of educational institutions.
The BBK, in association with the Bogong Banggo Land Action Committee (BBLAC), Bogong Banggo Yameng Kébang Youth Wing and All-Bogong Students’ Union (ABSU), on Wednesday organised a rally at Gidi Notko here to press their demand.
Addressing the rally, several community leaders, including BBK president Basalung Jamoh and its general secretary Onong Perme, BBLAC chairman Okom Yosung and member secretary Jobom C Mengu, besides youth and student leaders, alleged indiscriminate land allotment in the Pasighat urban area during 2024-25. They demanded that the district administration cross-verify all land allotment proposals settled during that period.
They further demanded that the district administration take prompt action to remove all encroachments within the government-notified area in Pasighat town.
Later, the organisations submitted a representation, giving the East Siang district administration seven days to formulate an effective land protection policy, outlining a clear and constructive roadmap for local administrative reform.
They also demanded inclusion of representatives of the BBK and BBLAC in the District Land Allotment Committee to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in future land dealings.
