VIJOYNAGAR, 27 May: Residents of Vijoynagar in Changlang district appealed to the health and family welfare minister to strengthen healthcare facilities in their circle.
Highlighting the hardships faced due to lack of proper health centres, the residents of Shidiku, Miphoto, Sichoto, Musala, Yachaley, Yachejoloi, Midodi, Josadi, Aguhomu, Ngwazakha, Aguchi and Nagodi villages, in a representation submitted to the minister said that villagers have to travel long distances for even basic medical treatment.
“We do not have medical centres or access to medicines, causing immense hardships to villagers during illness and emergencies. In many cases, villagers are compelled to travel long distances through difficult terrain for even basic medical treatment,” they stated in the representation.
In the representation, the residents said if the Vijoynagar (HQs) and Gandhigram village health centres are equipped properly with sufficient medicines, emergency medical kits and 24×7 availability of doctors it would greatly benefit remote villagers during emergencies and reduce unnecessary delays in treatment. The residents urged the minister to ensure alternative arrangements through qualified medical personnel in case doctors are unavailable.
They also appealed to the minister to arrange periodic medical outreach camps and regular visits by doctors and healthcare teams to these inaccessible villages so that villagers, particularly elderly men and women, children and patients, can timely receive medical attention and basic healthcare services.
A similar representation was also submitted to the health minister by the All Yobin Development Society, highlighting the lack of proper healthcare facilities in Vijoynagar and the hardships faced by the villagers.
