KHONSA, 1 Sep: A suspected drug peddler was apprehended during a joint operation launched by the Assam Rifles, police and CRPF here in Tirap district.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Wangpan Lowang, a resident of Longliang village under Laju police station.

During the joint operation, the team recovered 12.2 grams of suspected illicit drugs and one Apple iPhone.

The apprehended individual, along with the recovered items, was subsequently handed over to the Khonsa police station for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Based on intelligence input regarding trafficking and peddling of illicit contraband substances from the Medical Colony towards the Club Colony area of Khonsa town, the joint team swiftly established a naka along the route from Medical Colony towards Club Colony. During the operation, a suspected individual proceeding towards Club Colony was intercepted. Upon questioning and conducting a thorough search, the individual was found to be in possession of suspected contraband substances.

The successful operation underscores the continued commitment of the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the CRPF, towards curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region. (DIPRO)
