JULLANG, 28 Aug: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Tai Tagak has urged the youths to dream big and always stay focused.

Attending the Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvaad (Khelo India Dialogue) at Don Bosco College (DBC) here on Thursday, Tagak described the youths as the backbone of the nation and the architects of its future. He said, "When we empower them today, we secure a better tomorrow."

Regarding education, the MP said that education is not just about passing exams, but rather the foundation for discipline, character, and opportunity.

Stating that contributions of young people to the country's progress is equally important, Tagak said that a student could also contribute to nation-building "by offering voluntary service of teaching children, or a young entrepreneur creating job opportunities for others."

He urged the youths to play an important role in community services such as cleanliness drives, blood donation, tree plantation, or helping those in need.

"Community service teaches empathy, leadership, and responsibility. It reminds us that social problems are not someone else's responsibility alone," the MP said.

Stressing the need for "involvement of youths in creative activities and willingness to serve others," the MP said organising targeted youth programmes is a powerful way to nurture talent, build resilience, foster innovation, and instil self-discipline. He emphasised that the youth embrace a healthy and disciplined lifestyle through the motto 'Khel se jodo, nasha chhodo (join sports, leave drugs)'.

During the occasion, the Viksit Bharat Nasha Mukt pledge was administered, reinforcing collective commitment to a healthy and drug-free nation.

The programme was a part of the nationwide event Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), conducted across the country, with participation of youths and students, connecting youths at two colleges in every district to celebrate the National Sports Day.

Dignitaries present on the occasion included MLA Tojir Kadu, DBC Principal Fr Josh George, and MY Bharat state director Dr Salman D Singh.
