KYIDPHEL, 20 Aug: A total of 25 farmers benefited from a hybrid vegetables input distribution programme organised here in Tawang district on Thursday.
The programme was organised under the Vibrant Villages Programme, as part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.
The beneficiaries received summer and winter vegetable seed kits, organic manure, organic plant protection chemicals, power knapsack sprayers, and various agricultural tools and implements aimed at improving vegetable cultivation, enhancing productivity and encouraging sustainable farming practices.
Addressing the farmers, District Horticulture Officer Koncho Gyatso highlighted the importance and long-term benefits of organic farming. He encouraged the farmers to adopt sustainable cultivation practices that help maintain soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical inputs and ensure the production of safe and healthy food.
Kyidphel Assistant Commissioner Sange Norbuencouraged the beneficiary farmers to make optimum and responsible use of the inputs provided under the scheme. He emphasised the importance of adopting improved horticultural practices to enhance productivity and strengthen the livelihoods of the farming communities.
Kyidphel ZPM Tenzin Monpa urged the farmers to gradually discontinue the use of chemical fertilisers and move towards organic and environmentally sustainable farming practices. He emphasised that organic cultivation would not only safeguard the health of farmers and consumers but also preserve soil fertility and the natural environment for future generations. (DIPRO)
